Presentation Format

  • Each session will consist of 30-35 students, or one class, and will last for one class period (usually 50-55 minutes).

  • The program will take the form of a third person "show-n-tell" presentation.

  • Students will actually handle selected period items.

  • During this time the period attired living historian will discuss all aspects of daily life from the 1800's.

  • Areas of concentration include: Social Studies, Science, Etymology, Technology, and more.  You help customize the program.

  •  Throughout the presentation, several special interest demonstrations are used to enhance the total learning experience. Each demonstration is pre-selected by the school staff.

Period items like these - used for daily grooming - are shown to the students.  Each item has its own story.

Trail foods (amounts needed, preserving techniques, and preparation) are discussed as well as the utensils needed along the way.

Students like the simplicity and ingenuity of these and many other period toys found in the program's collection.
